No matter what a company, salon, or marketing campaign claims, facts are facts.

All professional hair color—regardless of branding, buzzwords, or packaging—is chemical in nature. If hair color changes your hair, it alters the pH and creates a chemical reaction. That reaction is what allows pigment to penetrate, shift tone, and create lasting color.

To date, plant-based or “organic” hair color has not been scientifically proven to outperform or be safer than traditional ammonia or alkaline-based professional color systems. Many of these claims are rooted more in sales language than in chemistry.

As a professional colorist, I believe it’s my responsibility to educate my clients honestly about what I use behind the chair. Too many people are misinformed by marketing pitches that promise “better ingredients” without explaining how hair color actually works.
