BALAYAGE LIVED IN HAIR COLOR
Hair colorist martin Rodriguez

Balayage isn’t just “painting some highlights.”
In my chair, balayage is strategic color placement, chemistry, and an artist’s eye for how your hair falls, moves, and grows out.
I’m Master Hair Colorist Martin Rodriguez, based at Ooh La La Salon Spa in Fountain Valley, California, specializing in:
• Custom balayage and lived-in blondes
• Brunette balayage with soft dimension
• Corrective balayage for over-foiled or brassy hair
• Low-maintenance color that grows out beautifully
Every balayage service is designed around your skin tone, natural base level, face shape, lifestyle, and hair condition—never a one-formula-fits-all approach.
What Is Balayage – My Approach
Most people think balayage is just “hand-painted highlights.”
My approach goes much deeper.
I combine:
• Advanced head shape mapping – so the color supports your haircut and face shape , adding contrast where is needed to enhance the lighter pieces.
• Chromastics XL lightener with added protein – to protect the hair while lifting.
• Custom ColourWand® tools – designed for precise placement on the curve of the head.
• Proper toning chemistry – to remove harsh orange/gold and leave refined, expensive-looking tones.
The goal: soft diffusion at the base tone into and gradient lighter towards the ends of hair. brightness where you want it, and a seamless grow-out.

: Who Balayage Is Perfect For
Balayage can be tailored for almost anyone:
• Brunettes wanting dimension
Soft ribbons of caramel, mocha, or espresso that keep the base rich while adding movement.
• Brunette-to-blonde transformations
Step-by-step lightening with Chromastics XL Powder and careful placement to protect your hair integrity.
• Blondes craving a Nordic, refined finish
For level 6 and above, I use precise toning to eliminate harsh orange-gold and create cool, clean Scandinavian-inspired blondes.
• Low-maintenance, lived-in color lovers
Color that grows out softly, so you’re not locked into a 4-week root touch-up schedule.
If your current color feels flat, brassy, stripey, or over-foiled, balayage can be used as part of a hair color correction plan to rebalance your tones and placement.
How Often Will I Need to Come In?
Every head of hair is different, but here’s a general guide:
• Lived-in balayage: 3–6 months
• Face-frame refresh: 8–12 weeks
• Gloss/toner and trim: 6–8 weeks to keep tone and shine on point
During your visit, I’ll map out a maintenance schedule that fits your lifestyle and budget.
Is Balayage Right for Me?
Balayage is ideal if you:
• Want dimension and movement, not a solid block of color
• Like your natural root but want brightness through the mids and ends
• Prefer soft, photoshoot-ready hair over harsh lines and stripes
• Need a color that looks good even as it grows out
If your hair is very dark, heavily colored at home, or extremely damaged, we may need a multi-visit plan to reach your goal safely. My priority is always the health of your hair first.
