Men’s Hair Grooming
Everybody knows that women are under a lot of pressure to look good. Salons are full of women, getting facials, manicures, color and cuts. Seeing a man at the salon is like spotting an endangered species. But why aren’t men keeping up appearances? Maybe they feel that good grooming only requires the basics: a barber cut, a shave and clean clothes. Surely, they think, men don’t have to worry about hairstyles, products, or God forbid, styling tools! Unfortunately, those guys that ignore style and grooming don’t realize they are giving the wrong impression, or worse, no impression at all. Those heartthrobs that women swoon over in the movies make an effort to be hot. Even when they have that unkempt look that women love, it is a masterful mix of rugged manliness with professional grooming.
Maybe men are a little intimidated by an industry that seems to be dominated by women and gay men. Let’s face it, men don’t like to jump into something that feels foreign, myself included. But being stylishly groomed has its rewards so keep your eye on the prize, namely women. You can’t expect to compete for the attention of women when images of Ryan Gosling or George Clooney are dancing in their heads, meanwhile you have the same haircut from middle school, except it grows longer from your ears than your head. The double standard that men get to be slobs while women bend over backwards to be fit and beautiful is gone. American men spend over 50% more on grooming than they did in 1997. In The U.K. that rate rose by 66% in just one year, from 2010 to 2014. If you men haven’t already begun to put some effort into your grooming routine you will quickly be overshadowed by those who do.
Lastly, when we put effort into our image it pays in our professional life too. Like it or not, first impressions are visual. People equate a positive image with many positive traits, such as integrity, honesty, and reliability. Not to mention, when we put effort into our appearance it gives us confidence. Confidence shows in our body language, which tells others that we have self-respect, which gains the respect of others. So whether you want to improve your success in the bedroom or the boardroom, find a good stylist. It all starts with looking the part.
Women’s hair styling
Tight hair buns are popular with Hollywood professionals actresses who wear their hair up. Hair on top of the head is pulled back into the polished bun or teased soft and rough. Although fashioned into a side part is often pulled at an angle to the side of the head, then back, rather than straight back. I've gone to Martin Rodriguez at least five times now, and each time has been a great experience. Martin is very experienced and you can tell that he is passionate about his profession. He really knows what he's doing when it comes to coloring hair. Although my hair still looks natural, the combination of colors he uses really makes it stand out a lot more, and it brightens up my whole face. One of my favorite things about going to Martin is that he uses slightly different colors on my hair every time I see him, based on the season. Another reason I enjoy going to him is that he uses organic hair coloring products, so I can actually breathe during the process without inhaling tons of bad chemicals. He's also done a really great job with layering my hair. He's very personable and genuinely wants to educate and help his clients. On my very first appointment with him, he spent about 20 minutes giving me tips on how to style my hair at home. The way I see it is that you can of course go to another hair stylist and get a style that looks pretty good but is generic and maybe not the absolute best look for you.... or you can go to Martin, and have him help you figure out what looks best on you.

Martin is the only person on the planet that I trust to do my hair.
Like many other women, I have a history of tragic hairstyles--mom's home-cut that made people think I was a little boy, genius home perms that turned my already curly hair into a wild bird's nest, experiments with boxed color when I was a teenager--you name it.
As an adult, I went through a pattern of trials where I would catch a glimmer of hope in trying a new stylist only to be disappointed and driven back into despair. This may seem overly dramatic to those women that have easy hair. But those that still cringe when thinking about the history of their hair experiences, they know it is no joke.
Prior to meeting Martin, I resigned my hair to a short, manageable bob haircut. My girlfriend was a stylist and she would cut my hair on her front porch. It was good enough, and by that point I was satisfied with "good enough." Unfortunately my girlfriend/stylist moved out of state, which could have been the last straw that sent me to baldness.
Luckily I found Martin before I had resort to hair clippers.
Needless to say, I was not thrilled about letting yet another stylist try to tame my unruly locks. I had tried everything, including those expensive Newport Beach places that give you latte's when they set you under the hairdryer. The latte didn't make my hair look any better and neither did the ridiculous price. So I'm sure I had a bitter, suspicious attitude when I first sat down in Martin's chair.
We started out with a simple haircut, nothing fancy and no color. But I immediately started getting compliments on my hair. This was a new thing. I hadn't gotten compliments on my hair since I was a tiny child with Shirley Temple curls that all the old ladies loved to admire. So I got a little more trusting and let Martin do a couple of highlights--a couple and that's it. But I kept getting compliments, which naturally encouraged me to feel adventurous.
Soon, with Martin's help, I was enjoying my hair. I used to look longingly at other women's hair and wish that I was so lucky. Now I know that the luck is not always being born with easy hair, but in finding the right person to work with what you've got.
Martin has never let me down. In fact, he caters to all my quirks and preferences no matter what. He truly stands by his work and wants all of his clients to walk away feeling good about their hair. That is a rare thing to find in any product or service. I don't trust anybody else to do my hair.

I've known Martin since the early 90's and it's amazing to still see him just as passionate today about his profession as he was back in the day. I've gone full circle over the years and without a doubt, this man knows hair... He's definitely worth trying out and I'm sure your experience will be well worth your time and money.

Martin totally understands what it is you want and applies it to the shape of your head so that that "picture of the haircut you want" looks better on you than it did on the magazine! Great communication skills, natural techniques, and haircuts that look amazing even months after the cut! I always get complimented on my hair after every visit. Great respectable family man:)

I have been seeing Martin for about 12 years. I found him randomly when I first moved to Huntington Beach when I was 18. Let me tell you that was the best day of my hairs life!
I have had to move throughout the years, had job changes and hardships... all of which took me to other places to "just get it done..." . It was never the same.
I can say in confidence that Martin has the best eye for hair color and has never steered me wrong. He has taken my hair from Black to Blonde and every thing in between, all with keeping the integrity of my hair and making it look amazing. I receive more compliments when he does my hair, which of course can make your day!
Honestly he knows what he is doing and is seriously the only one I FULLY trust with my hair!

I am so glad I found Martin on Yelp! The great reviews he gets are true and I went to him yesterday. I did some research beforehand and found his raving reviews to boost up my courage to see him.
I was lucky enough that one of his clients had cancelled and got same day service. I was greeted and and was taken to his station. My hair was up to my shoulders and was super flat and boring. He consulted me and took into consideration my height, facial structure, and hair type. My hair is now full of volume cause of how he layered it and now compliments my features. I never style my hair because I have no know-how; Martin was great and showed me several ways I could style my new cut. I even bought from his line KaleaRose, Del Mar Beach Spray. It works great to give my hair texture and volume.
He knows hair and I will definitely will be back to see him!

I found Martin on Yelp and saw all the great reviews so I made an appointment.
My hair is so thick I have the hardest time finding a stylist that knows how to deal with it and make it manageable so I'm always a bit nervous. I felt comfortable with Martin right off the bat. He listened to what I wanted and gave some great suggestions on what would look good with my facial structure. He even taught me how to dry and curl it so I could replicate his magic at home.
Definitely my most favorite cut and color ever!! I will be his client as long as he's in the field. AND on a normal appointment, I'd be in the salon for 5 hours plus. 2 1/2 hours at Ooh La La and I was out. The consultation alone was about 20 minutes so about 2 hours were spent on the hair. Martin the magician!! Thank you so much.

Had my hair done today by Martin. I've had issues with my hair and the products used by my previous hair stylists. After much research Organic color is the way to go. It's good for the scalp and doesn't cause hair loss or breakage. I found Martin and read the reviews, which were helpful, he was so great. My schedule is more than crazy, he accommodated me by giving me an appointment at 6:30a.m. What person does this? The color felt like creme on my scalp and no chemical odor. I highly recommend him, he is professional and does a fantastic job!
He also has a hair product line he developed. It smells great and is really good for your hair.

I had to find a new colorist in OC as I got tired of driving to LA to have my color done properly. It wasted my whole day. I found Martin while searching online and saw that he knows how to do bayalage so I decided to give him a try. I was very happy with the color. I didn't post a review right away as I wanted to see how the color would hold up as my hair goes brassy if the right color isn't used. He even got me in with a 7:00am appointment. I was at work by 9:00am. Yes, he is very pricey but my hair is important to me.

Went in there with long dull, lifeless hair with just a general idea of what I wanted. Last time I went to a salon get my hair colored red, it started washing out in a week....the same result I would of gotten doing it myself at home. But Martin is an excellent colorist, I walked out of there feeling great...he truly knows what he's doing!! My hair looks so vibrant and pretty now...I have gotten so many compliments from people I don't know. I have dark hair, and Martin helped me get the intense red i've always wanted. I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for someone who know how to color. He will sit down with you and listen to what you want, then explain what he reccomends and just trust in his experience, you won't be disappointed. I walked in here with an appointment with Martin. The first reaction was WHOAH this place is happenin! It has a nice decor that makes you calm in the midst of a busy salon. The ladies behind the desk are friendly, welcoming and happy. They have coffee and cookies waiting to be snacked upon during the times of lounging in the comfy couches and chairs before your appointment. The place is spick n span. They are fully stocked with some good hair lines especially the new hair care sensation Kalea Rose.
My experince getting my first hair cut here is mind blowing. Martin proved to me his experience and talent is very professional and on track with what looks good on everyone by just looking at features. This is the mark of someone who is "in" to me. Go to him he is rediculous awesome.
I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Everyone complimented this is their favorite short hair cut on me. I have had short hair for 10 years by the way!

Short hair? Look no further. I recently moved to the area and after six years of the same stylist, the search for a new one filled me with angst--quite rightly. Before I found Martin, I tried five stylists throughout Huntington and FV. Martin takes the time to learn your preferences, your facial shape, the way your hair grows in and lays on your head...everything you can possibly imagine. My cuts are always perfect - current, easy for me to maintain, and frames my face perfectly. The color couldn't be more perfect! He is by far the best colorist. I frequently get compliments on my cut and style, but ALWAYS get compliments on the color. If you ever want on overall experience you must visit Martin...did I mention I drive 90 miles roundtrip to see him - he's worth it!

Martin has taken my hair through many different lengths and colors, from black to strawberry blonde. Before Martin, I was always unhappy with my curly, unruly hair. There is no better colorist than Martin Rodriquez! If you want a someone who knows color, hair products and styles that are leading edge in the industry, Martin is your man! He is a advocate of products without harmful chemicals, sulfites, and strong chemical smells. Let me tell you a little story! Martin has been my stylist for about ten years now. Typically, I highlight my hair in soft blondes w/ a warm brown base color, or a third color that I'll call caramel. Once or twice a year, I get a bug in my ear and decide to go dark brown. It is always a shock to my skin color and the typical clothing colors that I wear. This time I felt that it settled to more reddish cast than I wanted. Because his PASSION is making us crazy clients happy, he brought me back in and softened the dark brown with softer highlights(a dark blonde). And it is at his expense because hes a proffessional and wants me to be happy. What more can you ask of your stylist? If you want the best, Martin is it!

I met Martin six years ago when I was searching desperately through the phone book for a salon to do my color (roots) the same day (I have a thing about waiting until the last minute to get things done). I called Allure salon and spoke with Martin. He took me right in. Since then he has been doing my hair religiously every month. With the busy schedule that I have, it's nice that I can call Martin at the last minute and he always makes time for me. Martin is a great colorist & stylist. Martin does my extensions (that are reasonably priced), and also my color. He has a great eye for color. I'm a blond and I always get lots of compliments on my color. I highly recommend Martin. I seriously wouldn't know what I'd do without him!

Martin has been my Stylist for 10+ years. He has taken me through all my phases: mediumlength hair to wild, flowing, long chili-red tresses! Now, I just sit back, relax and let Martin do his magic AND KNOW it will be perfect - EVERY SINGLE TIME!! So much so - I have refered at least 30 people to him - maybe more. And they have told friends too!!
I can always count on him to make look and feel beautiful. Honestly, once you've gone to Martin, anyone else would be a step down.

Martin used the Kalea Rose products on me and it was absolutely amazing.The shamppo alone is so soft that after it is rinses off, your hair remains soft. I loved it so much i refused to shampoo my hair even after a work out. Congrats and thank you Martin.

I can only begin to say how much I appreciate Martin at OOh la la salon! I have fine straight hair and I've searched for - literally - years to find a way to wear it that looks professional yet sassy. Martin works with hair care products that protect my fine hair and makes it look healthy and full. He also cuts and styles it in a way that my hair that is in keeping with what my hair WANTS to do! It is always easy to take care of and I can style it quickly. I constantly get compliments on my hair - sometimes from total strangers! Martin - thank you - you are the best!

I have been coming to Martin for almost nine years now. He has always taken the time to give me the best cut and color for my style and facial structure. I have been to some other "brand name" salons in prestigious areas and nobody has given me the results that I get from Martin. His knowledge and experience have taken me through many colors and lengths with my hair. He has done my hair for formal events as well as nights out on the town. I have always been thrilled with the results. One of the best things about Martin is that he stays on top of the latest products and technologies. When he started using Organic Color I was amazed to see how beautiful the results were. I would never trust anybody else with my hair.

Martin is one of the most progressive stylist/colorist's I have ever known! He is always up to date with the newest products and hairstyles in the Industry! He networks with a multitude of industry specialists from hairstylists to product manufacturers; puts on classes for other salons to promote products that excel and introduces other stylists to the great products he finds. I have been a customer of his for a least a decade and he makes sure that I am happy with not only my color(very important to me) but also the newest styles. Please take a moment to look at the importance of the organic products that he uses...especially for those who might have chemical sensitivity. I personally do not, but I can tell you I appreciate the lack of strong chemical smells while having my hair done! Do your hair and yourself a favor! Call Martin and you will be the happiest advertisement for his wonderful techniques ever!

Martin Rodriquez has been cutting my hair for almost 5 years. The girls in my office raved about him so I thought I'd give him a try.
WOW. I refuse to go to anyone else now. I have thick naturally curly hair which is hard to work with....he gave me a cut that works for me! I always tell him that I am his walking billboard because everywhere I go I get compliments from strangers on my hair. I always smile and tell them that Martin cut my hair. I now have to carry his business cards in my wallet because everyone wants to know who cut my hair! I have referred several of my friends and family members to him as well. In fact, every time my hip mother (who is in her 80's) and my sister come out from Florida to visit me, they make it a point to have their hair cut and styled by Martin! They adore him! What makes Martin such a unique stylist is that he takes all of your physical traits into consideration when he cuts/colors your hair...from your figure, right down to the color of
